Fitness resolution is one of the common resolutions that people make with the arrival of a New Year. They start making diet and exercising plans to try and lose weight to become lean and fit, but there are sometimes certain kinds of fat in places that are a little too difficult to get rid of. Here is where people tend to turn to liposuction procedures.

Liposuction comes under cosmetic procedures where the fat is surgically removed from your body to help you get that desired shape. Liposuction is generally done in places like belly, thigh, arm, buttocks, under the chin, jawline, and back.

As this surgery delivers transformation, clients generally want an experienced surgeon. It is best advised to get this done by doctors who specialize in this procedure and in a facility that meets the national safety requirements. The Phoenix Liposuction Centre checks all the boxes by having highly experienced surgeons who provide exceptional results. You can visit phoenixliposuction.com to schedule a consult.

All Surgical procedures come with risks. So, being in good health before you get it is recommended.  Avoid going through the procedure if you have health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, or a weak immune system.

Some common questions that come to mind when considering liposuction are –

  • What to expect beforehand – A few weeks before the procedure the doctor gives you a diet plan to follow and may instruct you to stop certain medications that you are on to avoid complications.

On the day of the surgery, the doctor first marks the areas where the procedure is to be done and gives you a local or general anaesthesia so that you are either not awake during the procedure or awake but don’t feel any pain.

  • How is it performed – liposuction is then performed by first injecting a solution consisting of saline, lidocaine, epinephrine, and numbing medicine that makes the fat separate from muscles and blood vessels. The fat is then sucked out using a long metal instrument called a cannula which is connected to a vacuum from under your skin with minimal to no pain.
  • How long is the recovery period – The surgery is a 1 to 2 hours procedure after which you are discharged and free to go home. You will experience swelling, bruising and soreness for a few weeks after the procedure and are required to wear a compression garment or band to help the skin heal. Antibiotics and pain killers are also given to help you recover properly.
  • Do you achieve permanent weight loss – The fat cells are permanently removed from your body but there isn’t anything stopping more fat cells from taking its place once again. So, it is advised to eat a healthy diet consisting of lean meat, fruits and vegetables and low-fat dairy products and to continue to exercise.

People tend to go back to their regular routine within 2 – 3 days. Consult with your doctor on when you will be able to start exercising again.

Liposuction is not a weight-loss tool and it doesn’t come cheap with the session prices being around $3,500. Most health insurances do not cover the cost of this procedure, but if you are willing, it is the best alternative to lose that stubborn fat.
