What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8 THC is the newly popularized cannabinoid you didn’t know you needed. It’s an isomer of delta-9 THC and differs very slightly. Delta-8 THC, sometimes called D8 is used to make various products including gummies, vape cartridges, tinctures, and other products. Delta-8 THC rands are popping up left and right so it’s pretty easy to find Delta 8 products online and in certain stores. Delta-8 THC produces mild euphoric effects when ingested and is said to help combat different mental and physical ailments. We all love to try the latest product that promises wellness, and Delta-8 THC is one that people paint as pretty impactful. Delta-8 THC has grown in popularity as an alternative to Delta-9 THC, or cannabis, because it’s a lot less potent.

What is the difference Between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC?

While the two are indeed similar, Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC share many differences.

1. Extraction

The first difference to note between Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC is the extraction process. These two cannabinoids are found in two different plants. Delta-9 THC is a major cannabinoid,  found in abundance in cannabis, while Delta-8 THC, a minor cannabinoid, is naturally occurring in hemp in lower amounts. It has also been discovered how to produce more Delta-8 THC, which is what has led to such an increase in the number of products that contain it.

2. Effects

The differences in availability and extraction process explains the difference in the effects users report for these two cannabinoids. The effects that both D8 and D9 cause is usually a deciding factor for most people when trying to decide between the two. The more abundant Delta-9 THC is known to be much more potent than the relative Delta-8. Potency refers to how intense a high people experience when this compound is ingested. People report Delta-8 THC to be relaxing and conducive to concentration, rather than making it difficult to manage your thoughts while slowly becoming couch ridden. While both cannabinoids are mentally and physically stimulating, there is said to be an overall noticeable difference between the effects that cause. Despite this difference, they’re both effective at helping alleviate symptoms of numerous conditions. Another factor to note about the effect caused by the two is the reaction time. It typically takes longer to experience the effects of D8, which brings users more of a gradual high, whereas Delta-9’s onset happens more instantaneously.

3. Legality

As you know, the legality of marijuana is quite complex. While it is legal for recreational and medicinal use in some places, marijuana is not legal on a federal level within the United States. This has directly impacted the legality of Delta-9 THC. Products aren’t allowed to contain any more than 0.3% THC. The availability of these products varies from state to state. As for Delta-8, some states wanted to ban it, while others chose to legalize it. There’s been recent fuzziness about the legality of Delta-8, because it is a compound extracted from the hemp plant. In 2018, the Farm Bill was passed which legalized hemp production, so D8 remains more widely available when compared to Delta-9 THC.

4.    Availability

Delta-8 THC products are much easier to come by than Delta-9 THC. Delta-9 THC products are only available at weed dispensaries and select online sellers, whereas Delta-8 THC products are seemingly everywhere. Delta-8 THC products are often sold in gas stations, convenience stores, smoke shops, and more.

How much THC is in delta 8?

Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the chemical that contributes to the psychological effects experienced when ingesting marijuana.  This is also more formally known as Delta-9 THC. The amount of Delta-9 THC present in Delta-8 contributes to it’s lighter effects and overall ability to still be stimulating. Delta-8 products typically contain less than 0.3% THC.

Does delta 8 THC get you high?

The “high”  you experience with Delta-8 THC is one that’s easier to manage. It’s said to a compound that works with you and not seemingly against you. This isn’t the substance that leaves you feeling lazy, hungry, or unmotivated. Delta-8 THC is known to bring users overall feelings of happiness and relief.

Note that the quality and strain of Delta-8 THC you purchase can make a huge difference in your overall experience with Delta-8 THC. For the best of the best, check out ATLRx. They offer high quality Delta-8 THC products for an affordable price.
