Best known as the founder of Jabre Capital Partners, a Geneva-based independent wealth management company, Philippe Jabre is also a committed philanthropist who established the Association Philippe Jabre (APJ) in 2001.

This article will take a look at the organisation’s history and its impact in Philippe Jabre’s home country, Lebanon.

How It Started

Lebanon’s post-war economy has been in crisis even after the reconstruction process, with poverty increasing as the cost of living rises and the country’s middle class having virtually disappeared. Acquiring training or getting treatment is incredibly challenging for many in Lebanon today. Against the backdrop of this worrying situation, and with inadequate means to tackle the crisis officially deployed, solidarity initiatives like the Association Philippe Jabre are essential.

Having already sponsored a number of initiatives in a personal capacity, Philippe Jabre decided to institutionalise his activities in 2001 through the launch of the Association Philippe Jabre. Mr Jabre has consistently drawn on his own successes to give back to those lacking access to the same opportunities, helping families to overcome difficult situations. The establishment of the Association Philippe Jabre crystalises his belief in the potential of Lebanon society and its cultural, social and economic development.

The APJ Mission

Based in Beyrouth on the premises of Arcenciel, the Association Philippe Jabre’s mission is to help alleviate the financial burden carried by certain sectors of Lebanese society, providing them with access to healthcare and education. Its ultimate goal is to strengthen solidarity between citizens out of a shared belief in better social justice and a brighter future. In addition to helping young people access education opportunities in Lebanon and abroad, the Association provides social coverage such as medical care to those who need it, as well as supporting like-minded organisations active across Lebanon.

Medical Aid

The Association Philippe Jabre ensures access to medical treatment, funding medical procedures, equipment and medicines, maintaining effective collaborations with care providers to ensure swift responses in urgent cases. Since 2001, the Association Philippe Jabre has provided medical aid to more than 4,200 people, helping those in difficult situations to access life-saving support. In addition, the Association has also supported over 8,900 individual socio-medical cases.

Social Aid and University Scholarships

The Association Phillip Jabre eases the burden of struggling Lebanese families by paying school fees and providing emergency assistance and continuous support until their need diminishes.

Furthermore, the Association is proud to support young people across Lebanon by offering scholarships and financial aid, enabling families to access educational opportunities and healthcare. This institutional support is provided on an individual basis, ensuring that resources reach those most in need.

To date, the Association Philippe Jabre has awarded over 3,000 university scholarships, with the non-profit receiving more than 500 scholarship applications per year.

Looking Ahead

As well as delivering life-changing economic aid, the Association Philippe Jabre aims to spread the word: that by working together, Lebanon can succeed. Although the acquisition of degrees and diplomas are important parts of an individual’s journey to success, the Association recognises that something greater is required, with everyone contributing to peace and sustainable development through their own personal success.
