Air fresheners have gotten a technological upgrade in order to become more useful. There are now automatic air fresheners that work a bit better than its traditional counterparts.

But how do automatic air fresheners work?

Air Fresheners and Its Function

An air freshener is exactly what it sounds like- a perfume that freshens the immediate environment around it with a scent. It can be a solid medium that’s soaked with perfume or comes in liquid form contained in a bottle.

The good news is that there’s probably an air freshener for each room in your house, your car and individual. There are thousands of unique scents, from lavender to menthol and even quirky ones such as bubblegum, coffee and more.

Types of Fresheners in the Market

Air fresheners can assume the shape and function of an aerosol, while others are candles, infused sticks, essential oil, incense and more.

As is the case each type of air freshener will have its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The strength and longevity can differ on a certain medium depending on concentration and brand, among other things. Price can also play a factor on whether you want something affordable or an exotic scent and are willing to spend more.

As similar as they sound, fresheners and purifiers are not the same. Air fresheners work under the pretense that they ‘freshen’ the air by putting out a scent that can mask odors. Purifiers, on the other hand, take air and remove the bad odor particles, then release it back to the atmosphere.

Automatic Air Fresheners

In addition to the usual liquid and containers, automatic air fresheners will usually have a sensor or timer that tells the product to release the scent to the environment.

This can happen every 15 or 30 minutes, or an hour or when somebody passes by it, for example.
