4 Qualities That You Want in a Hand Sanitizer

To say that people are using a lot of hand sanitizer these days is an understatement. In an effort to remain healthy and to possibly prevent making someone else ill, people are taking precautions that only a year ago no one would have thought about at all.

You take the choice of hand sanitizer seriously. That’s good news, since it means you’re someone who understands the importance of being responsible. When you consider different options like Germs be Gone or some other product, it pays to make sure you know what comes with that product. Here are four qualities that you want to be present at all times.

The Type and Amount of Alcohol

Current experts tend to agree that any hand sanitizer product that people use should contain at least 60% ethyl alcohol or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Other ingredients like glycerin and distilled water are also helpful. Some products may contain hydrogen peroxide in limited amounts. That’s fine as long as the type and amount of alcohol is in compliance with generally accepted recommendations.

When you’re considering any sanitizer product, do look closely at what’s used in the formula and in what amounts. Even if you see ethyl or isopropyl alcohol included, don’t waste money on products with lower percentages. They won’t provide what you need and aren’t worth your time.

The Reaction of Your Skin

Do pay close attention to how your skin reacts to the product. Given how often you will use it, do expect some dryness. That can be alleviated by using some sort of moisturizing lotion at the end of the day.

If you try a sanitizer product and it causes the skin to discolor or you develop some type of rash, there’s something in the product that’s causing the problem. Switching to something different that may also contain ingredients that help soothe as well as sanitize the skin will work better for you.

How Quickly the Product Dries

You may not think much about this until you find yourself in a position where the sanitizer really needs to dry quickly. Perhaps you use it just after returning to your car after a shopping trip. It would be nice to go home, but you want your hands to be dry before starting the car and steering your way out of the parking lot. If it takes more than a couple of seconds, something is not as it should be.

Always go with quality products like AlexLab sanitizers that will do the job and dry quickly. You’ll find using the product less of an irritation and feel more in control of your day. It will also come in handy if your hands are dry when you reach for the phone, need to jot down a note, or do all the other little things that people do every day.

The Container Choices

You may not think that the container makes much of a difference, but it can in certain situations. Pumps are fine for sanitizing stations in restaurants, supermarkets, and shops, but they don’t work all that well in cars and other spaces. Save the pumps for use at home, but opt for something with a secure lid that you can take along when you go for a walk or run an errand using the car. Those types of containers are easy to keep in your pocket or store in the glove compartment for easy use. Best of all, a lid that remains tight ensures none of the product will leak out and create a mess.

It will be some time before the need for frequent use of hand sanitizer passes. In the meantime, choose your product wisely. It could make a difference to your health and possibly also mean doing your part to protect others.
