Dental implants are one of the best solutions to fix your tooth loss or troublesome teeth. While your dentist will suggest to you if you should opt for a dental implant to restore your teeth, they will also advise you on the day of your dental implant. However, the procedure is comparatively more serious than other minor dental procedures.

It is common for patients to experience anxiety, worry, and fear before the procedure. Fortunately, a few tips will come in handy when preparing for your dental implants in Flagstaff, AZ.

1. Ask your dentist about the procedure to understand the procedure thoroughly

Often when you are unaware of the procedure, you will have various thoughts running in your head. However, it would be in your best interest to ask the dentist about the complete procedure. If you are worried about the pain it will follow, ask the dentist about sedation options. If available, the dentist will assist you with which method would work the best.

2. Stock up on soft drinks and foods

After the surgery, you do not want to go grocery shopping or cook your meal in pain. So, make sure before your dental implant surgery to stock up on soft drinks such as soups, drinks, water, and soft foods to eat. Usually, patients are advised to eat soft foods after the procedure at least for a week. Ice cream can also be the right option.

3. Get sufficient rest a day before

It is essential to get plenty of rest and sufficient sleep before your procedure. Although dental implants are a safe and straightforward process, you do not want to spend an hour in the dentist’s office with stress and worry, let alone your insufficient rest making it worse.

4. Always have pain relievers in handy

After the dental implant, your dentist may advise you to use painkillers to ease your pain. Although pain may vary from one patient to another, it is advisable not to take any medication without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. A day before the procedure, you can consult your doctor about which pain killers you should have in handy in case the pain rises.

5. Keep your schedule a little less hectic for a week following the surgery

Planning ahead for the week will make sure you do not mess up your working schedule. Plan your next week with a little less hectic tasks a day before your dental implant. If possible, take a leave for a day or two until you feel better.
