New World, the MMO game by Amazon, set to be released on September 28, 2021, is the next big MMO if the Closed Beta is anything to go by.
Its Beta came to an end on August 3rd, and it attracted over a million players worldwide with an accumulated playtime of more than twenty-five million hours.
The Beta was a huge success which has also put a lot of pressure on the developers to fix the bugs and quality issues raised by the participants. About 200000 New World Accounts participated in the final closed beta. As a result, the release date had to be pushed further to September 28, 2021.
Enthusiasts of the New World are crossing their fingers, hoping the launch won’t be pushed further, seeing as this is the fourth time the launch is delayed.
Now that New World is in its final stages, there is a lot we can tell on what to expect of the MMO. To do that, let’s answer a few of the questions you may have.
Will New World Require a Subscription?
Not really. The game is a one-off purchase that goes for $40 for the standard edition. That said, it doesn’t mean that there may not be other things to spend money on in the future. This is a good thing, since players can purchase New World coin more often.
On the contrary, as the game expands, it’s expected that there will be expansions and editions that may require you to spend some more like in most advanced MMOs.
How Many Players can occupy a New World Server at a Go?
Going by Amazons’ response, “over 1,000,” which can be attested if the closed Beta is to count. At one point, the New World beta saw 200,000 players at a go. The number of players is expected to go up after launch. 1000 is just a half of what the population is on the full WoW Classic servers, where most of the population actually consists of automated players called bots who often farm a lot of TBC WoW Gold.
What does the New World Story Involve?
The story behind New World is quite interesting. There is an island known as Aeternum. It holds a rare mineral that is magical, known as Azoth. This mineral can corrupt and empower.
The ruins of civilization in Aeternum comprise corrupt settlers and other natural creatures that rely on magic. There are also other baddies left behind to fight.
Additionally, the island is home to villains, and it holds other secrets that the adventurer discovers as they progress in the game.
What Factions are there in New World?
There are three factions, namely:
- Marauders
- Syndicate
- Covenant
The Marauders are the military faction whose aim is to make Aeternum a free world, while the Syndicate is a close-knit faction out to seek enlightenment.
The covenant is a faction of fanatics out to cleanse the land from its adherents.
New World also has four factions of NPC enemies, namely:
- The Ancient
- The lost
- The angry earth
- The corrupted
Do we have Magic in New World?
Yes. The different types of weapons you use will have differentiated levels of magical power. For instance, the ice gauntlets allow you to use ice-based magical power. With every weapon comes specialized power. Whether you wish it to be a supporting weapon or an offensive one depends on your prevailing situation at war.
There is a lot to learn as you progress in the game. For instance, you can buy a house at level twenty and a second one at level 40.
