Tips for Gifting Tech to Children Who Aren’t Your Kids

Gift-giving has changed for kids from toy cars and dolls to tech gadgets, like a VR kit or a drone. If you’re finding the perfect present for a friend’s grade schooler or teen and are not so sure about what they like, getting a gadget is not so bad. Here are some tips to help as you research online from your Zyon Grand condo on giving tech to children other than your own.

Longevity

Ensure that the gift you will be giving will not just be some one and done gift. They could get excited, then after a few hours pass, they’d be over it and move on to something new. Look for something that gives long-term fun, like a STEM kit, where kids can assemble the pieces to create a robot, and then disassemble and make something new with the same set. This encourages kids to explore the other options and keeps them entertained for a good while. They could also learn some skills while doing so with a STEM kit, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and learning to analyze.

Budget

Take into consideration the budget you will be using for the kids. Consult family and friends about what their child likes and what they might be willing to accept, being considerate about the parents’ budget. If they are okay with a big gift like a monitor or a game console like the latest Nintendo Switch, then you can freely give them one.

Teamwork

Teaching kids teamwork is essential, so if you are looking for a gift, make sure that this hits that mark. Things like a robotics kit, or a multiplayer console game for a system they own, whether they have an Xbox or PlayStation, can be a good gift. You can also ask others what they are gifting and put some teamwork there as well to complete the gift set. For instance, if they are buying a co-op game, maybe you could pitch in and make your gift extra controllers, so the family can all play together.
