Good, quality mobile networks are a dime a dozen these days, but sometimes it feels good just to play an offline game without worrying about lag and interruptions while staying at an Emerald of Katong condo. Here are five mobile games on iOS and Android that promise hours of fun.

Stardew Valley

A farming simulator game that’s available on different game consoles and handhelds. Stardew Valley is a charming pixel title where you take over a farm and interact with the villagers. There are lots of things to do, and all of them do not require an internet connection aside from the initial download.

Fallout Shelter

Another simulator game, but this time around you’re in control of a small colony of post-apocalyptic survivors. Build underground rooms and send them out to forage for food while keeping on top of things. Fallout Shelter is best played on a bigger screen, such as an iPad or tablet.

Crossy Road

Crossy Road is a fun action game, and a simple one to boot. You only need a thumb or finger to control the chicken crossing the road, but you’ll have to time it because there are lots of cars, trains, boats, and similar obstacles.

Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is not a game, but a service that lets you play hundreds of games in one package. Nearly all, if not all the games are offline and do not contain ads or in-app purchases. Apple Arcade is only available on the Apple ecosystem and requires an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.

Fruit Ninja

Fruit Ninja is a fast-paced action game that’s made for mobile gaming on the go. Swipe your finger across the screen to slice the fruits as they’re tossed in the air. Make sure to evade the bombs or it’s game over.
